Segment Searching

New QL uses segments including case-name, citations, counsel, court, date-of-decision, hearing-dates, judge, keywords, paragraph-num, summary, docket-number, neutral-cite, parallel-cite, and reporter-cite. There are several ways to do segment searching.

1. To manually enter the segment name in the general search box like this:

    criminal negligence AND counsel (Greenspan) AND court (Appeal)

2. To expand the "Search Within Document Segments" tool on the search form by clicking "show document segments" and then making your choice from the drop-down menu

3. Segments such as case-name, citation, date, summary, and judge, are already part of the search template provided when you click on the tab "Court Cases" or "Tribunal Cases". Just fill in the form.
